Denise van Outen may have already let the cat out of the bag when it came to her partnership with fan-favourite Matt Evers who was part of the show's first ever same-sex partnership with Steps singer Ian "H" Watkins earlier this year , but ITV later confirmed the full roster for It's no secret that our favourite shows are needing to make some adjustments in order to go ahead during the ongoing pandemic, with I'm a Celebrity switching its location to the UK for the very first time in 20 years and Strictly Come Dancing introducing isolation bubbles for its dance pairings.
Dancing on Ice is no different, asking its celebrity contestants and their skating partners to form 'mini bubbles' in order to keep the show on track as planned. In October, Graham Bell explained that each bubble would consist of a celebrity, a pro skater and a coach. When training, each bubble will have its own ice rink to keep them all separated from one another. Denise Van Outen has gone one step further, and has invited her skating partner Matt Evers to live with her, her partner Eddie Boxshall who you'll have seen on Celebrity Gogglebox , and daughter.
Before I knew who my partner was, I'd already said that if it comes to it, whoever I get partnered with could lockdown with me and stay in our spare room. Other highlights included Lisa George performing in a mock-up Rovers Returns with some Corrie co-stars who were not entrusted with a pair of skates and Joe Swash skating particularly well with his new stand-in partner, Alex Murphy.
Unlike the Caprice situation, this switch up was because his partner Alexandra Schauman injured herself last week. With the excitement of tonight's show fizzling out, and before I bid you farewell, I must share this with you. Another thing that has rattled viewers' cage tonight is the amount of adverts they had to sit through. Even Holly seemed surprised when she was suddenly back on air in less time than it takes to boil a kettle.
The general feeling among viewers is sheer annoyance that they weren't given a real official reason as to why Caprice missed last week's show and then returned with a new partner. Even saying she had broken a nail would've been better than completely ignoring it, surely?! I think the atmosphere was tough out there for you tonite…but you did it. Given that the judges always have the final say following the skate-off, fans reckon Caprice could be on the show for a while yet.
As a result, fans are furious and have turned on Caprice — who was saved by the judges in tonight's skate-off. Given the Caprice furore, it could be considered brave — or daft — of ITV to share a throwback picture of the model on its official Dancing On Ice Instagram page. Some viewers have picked up on the fact that much was made of Caprice only having a few days to train with her new partner, while Joe Swash also had a few days with his yet not as much was said.
Meanwhile, away from all the Caprice drama, Holly Willoughby and John Barrowman had fun backstage tonight. You done great [sic]. While Caprice is going to be kept busy on Twitter, Radzi is going to be too. But for a different reason. It seems there is a lot of love for Dancing On Ice's latest casualty after tonight's show. Dancing On Ice fans are not happy understatement and some are even vowing to turn off and not watch next week's show after the judges voted to save Caprice. Caprice is through to next week, with a unanimous decision by the judges to save her and new partner Oscar.
Fans are convinced the judges will save Caprice and Oscar, branding the predicted move a 'fix'. Joe Swash did really well considering he had a partner change after Alexandra Shauman was injured.
And he's through to next week! Jayne admitted she welled up this week at the joy of still being able to perform with Christopher on the ice. So Phillip chose to speak to Caprice and Oscar about next week's Fairytale theme, rather than discuss why Oscar is actually there. Um, so it seems every couple got an audience cheer tonight…except Caprice and new partner Oscar.
The finale saw Joe and Perri and their respective pro partners Alex Murphy and Vanessa Bauer take to the ring for one last dance, after Libby Clegg just missed out on the final two.
