Can you stack amplifiers

I use a Zoethecus rack which also allows me to leave the middle of the shelf open for air circulation from below. If putting 2 amps together on top take 4 2.

Make 1 more for other side. Don't make it so wide that it covers your amps vent outlet. Glue pieces together. Paint flat black or satin and apply thin layer of cork to bottom and put on amp. Then you can place next amp on top with a little space to breath. Ausjoe , Apr 13, Messages: 5, Location: U. Messages: 16, Location: St.

Right on top of each other, rackmounted, open backed. No problems with heat there. I've got 50lb amps.. No issues or problems what's so ever. Also, I seldom run them hard enough for them to ever heat up Messages: 24, Location: Corvallis, Or.

Thread starter requiem for a dream Start date Nov 20, Messages I'm using the MIG 50 for clean and the Origin for dirty running into the same cab. I'm not using the amps at the same time and it's just practical to keep them stacked.

I'm still wondering if this could cause any problems? Messages 8, Safe, and common practice. PurpleJesus Moderation is key Staff member. Not as long as you don't knock them over. The feet could make an indentation in the amp on the bottom. That's about it Messages 2, I do keep my watters jmp and that have vents on top , on the top of the stack View media item No.

Looking to save floor space. Thinking maybe the vibrations from one of the amps might not be good for the other one? I know 2 amps on at the same time can cause a hum but I've got a hum-x thing to defeat that. Sometimes I will have 1 or the other on, and sometimes both. Nothing that I can think of until there is a problem.

Unless you either have tall feet on the top amp or turn the bottom amp on its side, there can be a stability issue with the handle of the bottom amp sticking up. That's the only issue I've seen. And it's easily addressed. Works fine for me:. Mike Brown said it's not a problem until it's a problem.

Put my session on my cube 30, now the cube is only 6" tall!!! Pete McAvity From: St. Louis, Missouri USA. It may be a nominal but measurable difference. I disagree with the group here.

I'd never stack anything on top of an amp. Adds mass for stability, always good and all the heat goes up. It won't hurt a thing to stack them, unless you have some flimsy cheap unit, which I doubt you do. Your wife is correct, yet again!

I would get some pieces of wood to use as side rails and place a small piece of plywood on top and build a little shelf above the CD player for the amp to sit on. Not sure about in Italy but here in the US it would be easy to source and not cost much. I have a heavy preamp and a phono stage on top of it now.

And I've stacked a lot more on it in the past. It's fine as frog hairs. TT, that goes on nothing but a shelf or a mass designed for isolation. Glad that I could help validate your wife's thinking!
