Fantasy basketball Anthony Edwards is soaring and shooting to new fantasy heights. Three things to watch at Bellator Cyborg's dominance, Pico's winning streak and the rise of Fortune. A nice little duffle bag, some pocket change, so nice little friend, so he took care of me.
While Bron continues to dominate the league, Chalmers has gone on a different path all-together. The year-old now plays for one of the most successful teams in the Aris B. Although Mario Chalmers was a decent player, with the big three in his team, the knockdown shooter was rarely able to showcase his talents at the highest level. But he did occasionally show glimpses of star potential in the league. And it's only a matter of time before he wins his next championship.. The heat were trying to clear cap space.
They renounced ALL of their free agents. They only kept beasley because he was still under contract and they had to. But they resigned chalmers, meaning they cared more about keeping chalmers than gaining that extra million in cap space.
That says a lot about how much they like him. And in all reality, chalmers is the perfect point guard for the heat. He is basically a younger derek fisher: Athletic, but not freakishly so. A shooter who isn't going to miss many wide open shots. A smart point guard when he actually runs the offense instead of wade. One of the better point guard defenders in the league.
And he hustles. All he has to do is defend and hit the open shots lebron, wade, and bosh will inevitibly get him countless times per game. At least half the threes he shoots are going to be wide open. And if the heat manage to get derek fisher, chalmers can just run a pretty solid second unit most likely consisting of haslem, mike miller, and maybe quentin richardson.
I think chalmers has to be pumped for next season, not only does he fit in perfectly as I've already said, but chalmers can go back to gambling on more steals because he'll have 3 super athletic, great help defenders behind him to help him recover if he misses. Derek Fisher is the worst starting point guard in the league, bar none. LeBron is hands down better than Kobe. Kobe is a better pure shooter, but LB is a better athlete, better rebounder, better passer, more willing passer, and better defender.
Yes, I said it Kobe is way over rated as a defender. He does have great basketball sense, so he recognizes plays and comes up with a lot of steals, but he can't keep anyone in front of him. Doesn't matter, I am not rooting to LB anymore. I still might watch for Mario. I'll have to see what his PT looks like next year. Rock Chalk. It seems a little risky at this point to say a guy with five rings is less of a player than a guy with no rings.
And Kobe is the leading scorer in Lakers' history, which has had more than a few decent players over the years. We'll know more about Lebron in a few years, now that he is playing for an organization run by a person that at least knows how to win an NBA ring.
But even with Riley, Lebron is dealing at a disadvantage. Riley is good enough to win a ring, but he is not an all time great, like Phil Jackson.
Riley's career so far indicates that he can get it done, if he holds all the aces something a lot NBA coaches and GMs and presidents cannot honestly say , as Riles did in LA, and with Wade and Shaq. But if Riles is even a little shy of the best talent, he has not proven to be able to get it done.
He could not get it done with Pat Ewing, and Alonzo Mourning, and those are blots on his resume though Zo was often injured in Pat's defense. Phil Jackson has proven that he can win rings with two superb non-centers--MJ and Pippen--and with a superb guard and center--Kobe and Shaq--and now with just one superb player--Kobe. Phil Jackson is just a way better coach than Pat Riley, anyway you slice it. Riles now has a chance with Lebron and Wade to see if he can win a ring with two non-centers.
He certainly can't do it with Dexter Pittman starting; that's for sure, so unless Riley makes some moves soon, this coming season is not likley the year Riley will step in for Spoelstra.
The next off season should see them package some players for a decent center that Pittman can back-up and then Riley will give Spoelstra the hook. Mario Digression: I would not be at all surprised to see Mario Chalmers packaged in deal to get a center, which will be too bad for Mario, but that's business.
If Lebron gets his rings, I'll be comfortable with saying he's better than Kobe, but not till then. We play for rings to decide who is best at turning teams into champions. Lebron's problem until he wins a ring is this: he had some pretty good talent and coaching in Cleveland and got close, but could not get it done. Wilt, who never had a lot of great teams around, did get it done when he did have a few decent teams around him.
Lebron has to prove at least that much before he can be argued to be, like Wilt, a superior talent that rarely had enough talent around him to win a ton of rings. If that is a team with "just one superb player," then the definition of superb has changed dramatically from what it used to mean.
That is a ridiculously loaded team. Pau Gasol is easily one of the best 5 guys in the NBA. Guy has more talent than just about every other big guy combined.
And I haven't even mentioned the plethora of talent surrounding those 2 guys. Bynum is a phenomenal young talent and will be a superstar for years to come if he can stay healthy , Fisher is one of the most clutch guys in the game, Artest is a beast defensively and can do what Rodman couldn't, actually PLAY offense , and Lamar Odom But you can't tell me that this current Laker squad is just a one guy show.
They are absolutely loaded, and -- if Fisher comes back -- will actually have MORE talent next season Kobe is a winner. He won on his own. Shaq left, and he got two more rings. Lebron could never have done that. There is no comparison. By Andrew Gastelum. Heat forward Rashard Lewis' "Sweet Lew" nickname jersey. Heat center Joel Anthony's "Doc" nickname jersey.
