A highly entertaining and thrilling one-hour competition series celebrating magic and featuring the legendary magician duo Penn and Teller. On each episode, aspiring magicians from all around the world are invited to perform their best trick to try and fool the two.

To avoid spoiling the tricks, when Penn and Teller are able to guess how the contestants' magic works, they usually explain it in code, and when the contestants do manage to fool them, they are rewarded with a guest spot on their famous magic show in Las Vegas.

British television and radio personality Jonathan Ross served as host until , when Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Alyson Hannigan took over as the new charming host. Add content advisory. Did you know Edit. Trivia Alyson Hannigan wears the same outfit on every show throughout a season, and Penn and Teller wear the same suits. This is also where the titular magician duo routinely hosts their magic shows. The first season of the show was actually shot at Fountain Studios in London. The now-defunct production facility was located at Wembley Park Drive. That's camera wizard, Jay Sharron, there on the ground getting that slow-mo shot.

The crew was very excited about making this shot happen, as they had brought a special, slow-motion camera to capture the springing of the cards. We were very lucky to work with an incredibly talented crew, including producer and editor, Guy Toam , and cameraman, Jay Sharron.

This day is much more casual, but I decided to treat it as a dress rehearsal. I met with Michael Close and Johnny Thompson , the two magic consultants that work for the show. Johnny and Mike are not only great people, they are brilliant magicians.

While Johnny and Mike help the magicians finesse the technical aspects of the effect, the producers of the show, Andrew Golder and Lincoln Hiatt, provide feedback on blocking and performance. In the photo above, you can see Amy hanging out in the background, and behind us are all the different sized tables and chairs the performer can use.

What I did want for sure was Penn, Teller and Alyson as close to me as possible, and seated so that the cameras could catch their faces and reactions. I performed my trick in rehearsal, and we had the rest of the day to relax.

Over the course of two weeks, the show films all 13 episodes, usually 2 episodes per day. This time I was scheduled to film during the very first episode.
